Silver Cross has pledged support for partner charity, Baby Basics UK, with its new ’50 for 50′ fundraising campaign.

Baby Basics UK is a volunteer-led project aiming to support new mothers and families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby.

Through health and social care professional referral, the project supports vulnerable families with essential baby and toddler equipment for life with children from 0-5yrs. The charity supports a growing network of baby banks with centres located across the country and they are just launching their 50th centre in Portstewart, Northern Ireland.

Through the 50 for 50 campaign, Baby Basics hopes to raise £50,000 in order to open and staff a national warehouse to store more so they can give more to their 50 UK centres.

David Abbott, Director of Marketing at Silver Cross, says: “Over the past year we’ve supported Baby Basics by donating prams and strollers for families in need, so we’re now delighted to back their 50 for 50 campaign with a £5,000 donation. Baby Basics centres across the UK are seeing a huge increase in demand, so we wish them every success in reaching their £50,000 fundraising goal.”

Baby Basics UK’s patron is Rev. Kate Bottley, a church minister in North Nottinghamshire noted for her part-time roles as a journalist, media presenter and reality television star
