Katie Saunders founded The Little Sock Company in 2017 to fix a seemingly simple yet unsolved problem, “where do I find socks that actually stay on my child’s feet?”. In our exclusive interview, Katie explains to Nursery Online how she brought her idea to life, how her range has grown since launch and how she supports retailers wishing to stock The Little Sock Company products.
“As a Fashion Designer with over 15 years’ experience working with leading bodywear brands, I had the idea for the business after having my first baby. I soon noticed that the baby and toddler market didn’t offer the same attention to detail, quality or care in the small items we purchase (yet use so often) and so The Little Sock Company was born. As a mother of three, I’m in sync with the demands of a modern family and their adventurous little ones. I still design every collection with a signature aesthetic that is warm, cute and minimal. Over the years I’m proud to have built a trusted brand and product that gives parents the confidence that they are purchasing responsibly for their little ones.”
How has your range expanded since you first launched the business?
“We first launched with our much loved and awarded Original ‘Stay-on Sock’ which was an immediate hit with parents. Since then I’ve continued to innovate and develop the brand. We now have 3 styles of socks, including cosy socks and frill socks and more recently we launched our award-winning crawling leggings and non-slip tights. Our aim is to standout through a focus on simple inspired details and functionality, while sourcing the highest quality fabrics for both durability and comfort, that last.”

Making our gorgeous yet very practical products an essential collection for all baby and toddler retailers.”
How do you support retailers wishing to stock The Little Sock Company products (through in-store marketing etc)?
“We are dedicated to supporting and working together with our retail partners. We offer a very low MOQ and can also provide POS material.”
What do you most enjoy about being in the baby business?
“Our aim is to create quality childrenswear that focuses on making parents lives that little bit easier. I can comfortably say that we do this and this is what I enjoy most about being in the baby business. I’m able to tackle known parental pain-points with simple inspired designs making a real difference to parents…. that and hanging out with all those gorgeous little ones that help us with fittings and on our photo shoots.”

What role does social media play in the success of your business?
“Social media gives us as a brand an opportunity to really connect with our customers on a personal level. We especially use Instagram, such a visual platform means we can really see our products at play.”
Can you share any specific plans or developments for The Little Sock Company for the year ahead?
“We’ve some exciting new developments coming later in the year which I can’t wait to share. We will also be expanding our Mini Me collection, which we’ve had an incredibly positive response to so far, so that it can be sold at wholesale.”
