Founder, Shabs Kwofie explains: “Something that we pride ourselves on is that our products are made exclusively in the UK. This goes a long way to minimising our carbon footprint, safeguarding both the quality of our products and the fabulous people who make our wraps, and supporting other local businesses.”

The versatility and the one-size-fits-all nature of Amawrap’s baby wraps means that everyone can get in on the babywearing fun and it also makes a wonderful gift to very appreciative parents! We want all parents and carers to get the benefits from babywearing and skin-to-skin contact, without compromising on style.

A Brief History of Amawrap

Amawrap is a long-established, family-owned business with the founders’ family ancestry and roots embedded within babywearing cultures. For centuries both Shabs and her husband’s ancestors, being of South Asian and African descent, used wraps to tie their babies to them and carry their babies around.  Founder, Shabs Kwofie says: “Culturally for us, this practice has gone back generations so you can be assured that you are in safe hands. (As well as the stringent UK/EU safety testing, of course!) Our on-site sling experts are here to answer any questions you may have and support you at all times. Due to all of this, you will find that Amawrap’s integrity and reputation amongst parents is second-to-none.”

Suffering from the baby blues after the birth of her daughter, Shabs starting using a handmade baby wrap to help get her out of the house. She realised that, not only was it pulling her out of the ‘fog’, she was also getting local attention for her wrap. “Before long I started getting orders from other new mothers! I started researching the scientific benefits of skin-to-skin contact not only for baby but for mum too. The orders piled in and Amawrap was born!
