Welcome to 2018

Another new year! Another chance to keep our New Year’s Resolutions! Or another year where they fall by the wayside before the end of January?

After being on a summer holiday, like many people, I find it difficult to get back into work mode, but after the Christmas break, I find myself buzzing with ideas! If I'm not careful, I get started on four or five different projects and fail to see any of them through!! So, some of my brilliant ideas for 2018 will be put off until later in the year.

One way to give myself and the Nursery Online team more space to implement the things that really will make a difference is to move our Newsletters from weekly to fortnightly. Our Nursery Online Product Spotlights will also move to alternate Fridays, making Friday Nursery Online day! We can then spend more time on our International News. Our trade is growing more and more international - no longer is it enough to know what is happening in the UK. To grow your business means looking at export, which means looking at the rest of the world or importing new exciting products which, guess what? It means looking at the rest of the world!

We will also be spending more time on our sister site - Buying4Baby.info. There's lots of exciting things happening there so if reaching consumers is your aim, we've got the contacts!

One important change that 2018 will bring is the introduction of GDPR - that's the General Data Protection Regulations - in May. This will affect the way many of us do business. It will have a big impact on whether you receive information or not. Whether you can send out information to your customers - or not!

We'll be looking at GDPR in more detail over the next few months, so make sure you get your Friday Fix!

And if you want your brand and your products to be known throughout the world, why not shout about them in our International Newsletter. Copydate for that is January 13th. It’s an opportunity too good to miss. We will publish your press releases free of charge but there’s the chance to make more impact by having a banner ad. Or you could go rash and send out a personalised email to certain types of readers or to certain countries – the choice is yours!

The Media Snug partners with Children’s Activities Association

Marketing and PR company, The Media Snug, which specialises in the parenting sector, has partnered with the Children’s Activities Association (CAA), the UK’s first independent expert-led accreditation provider.

The CAA offers parents, schools and nurseries a benchmark and peace of mind when it comes to organised children’s activities. With just one check, they know their provider has been accredited, according to consistent standards and verification.

Activities, classes and clubs are a valued and much-loved part of most children’s pre-school and extra-curricular leisure and learning time, but until now, there has been no formal guidelines to assist parents, schools and nurseries in choosing how to invest their time and money. The CAA aims to do this as well as giving children the opportunity to experience a wider range of organised activities.

The Media Snug will be working in partnership with the Children’s Activities Association to raise the profile of the work it does, and will be championing a new initiative, Children’s Activities Week, which launches in April 2018.

Britax Römer introduces its first lightweight travel system, the BRITAX B-LITE

Fitting into tight spaces, busy areas and public transport with a pushchair will be a breeze thanks to Britax Römer’s new BRITAX B-LITE travel system. Suitable for children from birth – 15kg (approx. 3 years), the BRITAX B-LITE is compact and agile, allowing parents and children alike to move around with ease.

The new pushchair is Britax Römer’s lightest buggy to date that is travel system compatible and comes with the option of using CLICK & GO® receivers to enable parents to attach any Britax Römer infant carrier, making it a great travel companion for the whole family.

Weighing only 7.4kg, the BRITAX B-LITE is easy to handle thanks to its single-handed pull fold, enabling parents to quickly and conveniently collapse the pushchair with one hand, while holding on to their most precious cargo in the other. Not only lightweight but compact too, the BRITAX B-LITE is freestanding when folded with a standing height of 70cm and width of 40cm, also featuring a handy automatic fold lock which ensures the pushchair remains in position until it is ready to be used again.

Perfect for the active family, the BRITAX B-LITE features an adjustable backrest and leg rest, which includes a lie-flat position that can be used with a soft carry cot for newborns, as well as customisable seating positions for a resting toddler. Additional foot support is also included within the new pushchair to keep growing children more comfortable and can be used when the calf support is down; this ensures little legs remain comfortable even when the leg rest is outgrown.

The BRITAX B-LITE comes with the safety features parents have come to expect with Britax Römer products, including an adjustable safety harness to keep children secure and comfortable as they grow. The 5-point harness can be adjusted to different height positions, while the softly padded chest pads ensure additional comfort for children.

To ensure a smooth ride, the BRITAX B-LITE boasts front swivel wheels which work in both a swivel and lock mode for greater manoeuvrability, while lightweight puncture-free wheels leave parents feeling assured that they won’t be left with a flat tyre during outings. Other aspects of the new pushchair include a large hood with UPF 50+ protection, mesh panels on the sides of the seat unit for better air circulation and a spacious basket for travel essentials, making it a must-have for any family adventure.

If you are planning to enter the Baby Products Associations 2018 Concept & Innovation Awards – don’t forget that the deadline is TODAY.

The judges will be shortlisting entries shortly after this date and those entrants considered the best will be invited to present their ideas to the panel in central London at the end of January.

From these four finalists will be chosen, and these will be invited to Harrogate International Nursery Fair at the end of March, where the winners will be announced.

MAM shortlisted for six awards with five products!

The Hegen Breast Feeding System

Hegen is a unique modular breastfeeding system designed to streamline the breastfeeding process for today’s busy Mums, a system that incorporates expressing, feeding and storing all in the same bottle with no need to transfer the contents.

The unique ergonomically designed square shape of the Hegen bottle makes them easy for babies to hold and also means that the bottles can be stacked to optimise storage space and when used as food storage containers the lids interconnect allowing them to be effortlessly bound together.

The Hegen teat is elliptical shaped and made from super soft silicone closely mimicking the breast and promoting natural latch-on, minimising any confusion and making it easier to combine breast and bottle feeding. The off-centre teat promotes feeding in an upright position reducing the risk of milk back flow and the likelihood of mid-ear complications. The teats have a smart built in anti-colic air vent system which reduces excessive air intake helping safeguard your baby against tummy upsets.

Lallana surprises Graham family with Lapland trip

The Graham Family was given a much-deserved treat when they were selected as the lucky recipients of a very special Christmas themed #LFCDreamTicket.

Piper and Harrison along with parents Leah and Paul were treated to the surprise of a lifetime when the Club worked with partners Joie and Thomas Cook Sport to create some unforgettable memories for the very special family.

Piper, age 10, from Anfield, Liverpool was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in December 2015 and has been undergoing treatment at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital over the last two years. With the tireless support of her family and friends Piper is fighting back - proving an inspiration to those around her - and is now five months off ringing the bell to signify the end of her treatment.

New Park Primary School, who work closely with the Club through the Red Neighbours program, nominated Piper and her family for their #LFCDreamTicket for the courage, determination and embodiment of the Club’s values they have all displayed throughout this difficult period.

The fortnight of fun was kicked off at a special school assembly where Piper received a surprise video message from LFC first team player Adam Lallana inviting Piper and her family to Anfield for an extraordinary match day experience and to Melwood to meet him and the rest of the squad.

At Melwood the surprises continued when Adam Lallana presented the Grahams with the trip of a lifetime to Lapland for the ultimate Christmas experience.

Piper’s Dad, Paul Graham, said: “It’s been magical the LFC Dream Ticket - especially for the kids. I haven’t seen them smile so much with what Piper has been going through for the last two years. We cannot thank the Club enough for our LFC Dream Ticket which has left us all with some unforgettable Christmas memories.”
